Later worked as an accessory rep at Indianapolis. Started off as a riding mechanic, then raced midgets. Jackson was, at college, good at American Football and boxing, the latter especially so. He was even selected for the US Boxing Team's longlist for the 1932 Olympic Games, but didn't make the cut. Shortly afterwards, Jimmy moved to Desert Hot Springs, working in real estate. In 1935, Jackson served as a riding mechanic to George Barringer at the Indianapolis 500. After World War Two, Jackson, now a midget driver, chose only to race in one big race - the Indianapolis 500 - for some year, and for his first attempt, his team manager was George Stewart, otherwise known as Leon Duray, the former Indianapolis 500 driver. Jackson died of a heart attack, aged 74.
