Excellent midget driver, who started racing in 1934. Supplemented his racing by selling racing parts. Survived a horrific crash in 1947, where he suffered breaks or bruising to his stomach, legs, back , kidney, liver, shoulder and eyes, to race on until the early 1960's, by which time he had relocated to California. Boyd started in midget cars before moving to Pontiac in Michigan to establish his parts business which he ran until he moved to California in 1956. Boyd became a very notable midget driver, winning the 1939 West Virginian midget title before winning the Ohio State version the following year. Towards the end of his career Boyd switched to sprint car racing, retiring in 1961.
