Killed in an AAA Championship race when his car broke, but still became the 1948 Champion, only, sadly, now posthumously. Horn was a gentlemanly, meticilous and hugely popular and respected racer, who was one of the best never to win the Indianapolis 500, despite numerous top finishes there. Crash prone at the very beginning of his career, he survived to become a very smooth, neat driver, finishing in the top four numerous times and to have a long career before tragedy struck.
