Died of heat stroke. Legendary midget racer in California. Retired in 1966, but continued to race until 1990 in midget vintages. Baldwin's only Indianapolis attempt saw him assist former Formula 1 World Champion, Giuseppe Farina. Baldwin gave valuable feedback about the Ferrari V12 engined car when he practiced it to Ferrari, who had a mixture of American and Italian mechanics. His feedback was crucial to the American mechanics who were struggling to understand Farina and his complaints about handling. Baldwin raced from 1946 until 1966 in midgets and was later inducted into the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame.
