Dick retired from racing in the 1960's and moved to Melbourne to join up with his brother Jim and his younger sibling's hugely successful Chevrolet business in some form or another until his death in 2000. Although Dick was a long-time Indycar driver, he was best known for his performances in stock cars. He raced in the series between 1951 and 1956, winning thirteen races and coming third in the championship in 1953. Dick was, of course, actually called James, giving his brother permission to use his birth certificate to help him race before legally being allowed to.
