Midget legend, nicknamed Dyna-Mike or Mighty Mite due to his small - five foot, one inch stature and his spectacular driving style. A popular driver, who kept links with the sport for years, he later lived in Florida, where he ran a horse breeding farm. Mike was based in California for much of his 23 year career and whilst best at midgets, did also race in sprint cars, amongst other disciplines. Retired in 1970, and in 1987, he was inducted into the National Midget Auto Racing Hall of Fame. Mike, who died just two days after his 92nd birthday, was Big Car American Racing Association Champion in 1956 and 1957 and in midgets, Bay Cities Racing Association Champion in 1958, 1960 and 1962.
