Nephew of Mario. Better known as a NASCAR driver. John only stopped racing full-time once he had passed the age of 50 but continued to race in special events. However, in 2017, John was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer and fought the disease valiantly. His cancer went into remission, however in 2018, it was announced his cancer had returned and spread. In January 2020, he lost his fight against the disease. Andretti, before his cancer fight, also focused on other projects, including charitable work for sick children in the Indianapolis area. He also recently designed The Stinger, an Indy-concept car, based on the 1911 winning Indy car, the Marmon Wasp and John obtained the signatures of over 250 fellow Indianapolis 500 starters on the car, and that was auctioned at the 100th Indianapolis 500 in 2016 to raise money for local charities. Andretti also coached and managed his son Jarrett's racing career, and did a huge amount of public speaking, coaching and PR work.
