Extremely versatile driver who retired in 1979 to become USAC's Vice President and Director of Competitions. Best remembered as a sprint car legend and winner of the USAC Championship in 1963, 1966 and 1973. Started as a youngster in stock cars, before progressing to sprint cars and open wheel racing. He also won the USAC Stock Car championship in 1969 and 1970. A long-time resident of Arizona, Roger moved to Indiana in 1981 to be closer to the USAC offices and remained there for the rest of his life.
