Became a pilot after a big crash led to F1 retirement. He made a racing return to the British Touring Car series in 1993, then into sidecars. In 1999, he quit as a pilot and raced in the TVR Tuscan series - he also tried fencing and polo! Still involved in motor racing, although he tends to do more work as a mechanic now, but is still racing, in club and historic racing, continuing a career he started back in 1964, when he raced karts. Ashley is also a racing coach and instructor and is part of Ferrari GB's instructing team.
