Alive and well, living in Kent. Even in his 70's, Tony was still racing in historic and GT events as well as working a racing instructor and as a motorsport consultant. Trimmer was an outstandingly adept driver at Formula 3 and British Formula 1 level but for some inexplicable reason, he never started a Grand Prix. Tony initially worked as a merchant seaman before becoming a mechanic for Frank Williams. He took up racing and enjoyed a notable win at the 1969 Monaco Formula 3 race and soon earnt a contract with Lotus as a reserve driver but it wasn't until he got a drive with the Maki team that he made his Grand Prix bow. Unfortunately the car was a disaster and he unsurprisingly failed to qualify, which damaged his reputation. He restored it somewhat by winning the 1977 and 1978 British Formula 1 championship but again when he got a GP chance, albeit in a privately run Surtees, he failed to qualify and his top-line career faded out in the 1980's.
