Awarded a Queen's Gallantry Medal for his attempts to save Niki Lauda after Lauda's crash at the Nurburgring in 1976, Guy later became a hugely successful sponsorship consultant, a role he took up straight after racing retirement, and in that particular field of the sport, he was a hugely significant and influential person. Formerly lived in France, but currently lives in Galway, Ireland. Sadly beset by ill health in recent years and tragedy; son Sean followed him into racing, and was at the height of his success at the time of his tragic death in a crash whilst as a passenger, performing in his role as a driver coach. Guy has had health issues since suffering a stroke but still tries and keeps links to the sport. Guy did an interview in 2018 for this site; this can be found below.
