Grands Prix: | 5 (1961-1962) |
Colossal talent killed in a non-championship Mexican GP whilst at the limit in qualifying. Ricardo started racing at just fifteen years of age after having a motorcycling background like his elder brother. He won the 1957 Riverside Trophy 1500cc sportscar race on his overseas debut whilst still not sixteen. Despite this Rodriguez often was denied entries to race because of his age. He won the Targa Florio in 1962, became a Grand Prix driver before he was 20 and also won the Paris 1000kms at Montlhery before it ended so tragically. With age, speed and undoubted brilliance on his side, had he lived he could well have won multiple World Championships in the 1960's and 1970's.
