Now a businessman and involved in architecture. Retired from driving in CART in 1985, but made a recent and rare appearance at a CART event in 2002, at Elkhart Lake, to mark the 20th anniversary of his only CART win. Lives in Cuauhtemoc. Hector's father was also involved in architecture, but one of his family ran a car dealership which got Rebaque interested in cars. He made a brave attempt to run his own team after buying both a Lotus 78 and Lotus 79 in one of the last true privateer attempts before having a brief spell where he commissioned Penske to build a Lotus copy named the Rebaque. It wasn't a success at all and it was actually when Rebaque was solely a driver at Brabham that he flourished and showed he had some ability.
