Made an astonishing return to Formula 1 in 1992 and then went on to Formula F3000, touring cars and more successfully, sports cars and GT's. In 2002 and 2003, he won the FIA Sportscar championship. Was named boss of the Dutch A1 GP series team and also competed in the GP Masters. He is currently the race director of the Dutch Grand Prix, which returned to Zandvoort in 2020. He has also run a few endurance teams and continues on occasion to race, mainly in endurance events but was also in endurance rallies like Dakar.
