Now lives in Plain City, where he works as a mechanic, specialising in restoring vintage Porsches. His wife is an author. Pimm was the 1983 North American Formula Super Vee Champion, but initially Ed was a schools champion in pole vaulting and then took up show jumping whilst a teenager and won in that sport too! Pimm then took up racing in 1978 in Formula Ford and continued racing for another ten years, retiring after a short spell in NASCAR which followed a spell on the sidelines after he broke his arm in a CART race.
