Heir of the brewery firm, Piers was killed in a crash at the Dutch GP. Fast, but crash-prone, Piers self-financed his racing career despite the family money. Highly rated, he did very well in Formula 3 and Formula 2. Started his career in 1962 but it wasn't until 1965 that his career took off in Formula 3. His Grand Prix racing highlight was a quite astonishing 2nd at the Monaco Grand Prix of 1969.
