Longtime sportscar driver, with the occasional touring car foray, mainly racing in either BMW's or Porsche's. He won the Spa 24 Hours in 1970. Still races in historic events and is a trained mechanical engineer. Huber still has business interests in the automobile industry. Gunther came to prominence by winning the 1967 Formula Vee Cup which propelled him into Formula 2. Although this didn't go wonderfully, Huber finished 2nd in his class in the 1969 European Touring Car Championship and was competitive in the series until 1971. He also took class wins at Monza and the Nurburgring. After a few races in 1972, Gunther retired from racing. Huber's father was a motorcycle mechanic and Huber and his brother learnt to race bikes and also raced in sidecars. Huber started racing properly in rallying in a VW Beetle before moving to Formula Vee. He now restores historic Formula Vee cars and races them in historic events with his two sons. Huber was also one of the trio that formed the first ever three man squad to race at Le Mans.
