Died in a traffic accident. Full name Eusebius, he was much better known as a rally driver. A rally in his memory is still held every year near his Altausee home. Hopfer was still competing in rallying at the time of his death, and was second in the Austrian Rally Championship standings at his passing, racing his own Ford Sierra Cosworth. He competed in both rallies at home and internationally; he performed well at the Monte Carlo Rally in 1991 too. Sewi was a trained mechanic and often worked as a tuner. He also ran a training and fitness studio at his workshop, often specialising in aiding disabled people who want to be fit as well as those with mental issues.
