Only retired from near full-time racing when he reached eighty years of age! However he is still competing in historic events. Towards the end of his career, he was in hillclimb or rally events despite having BMW management roles, but this did not slow him down one bit! Quester actually began racing in speedboats, winning two European Championships in his class and then raced in motorcycles. He took up racing in 1964 in hillclimbing before becoming a BMW legend after joining them one year later. He won the 1977 and 1983 European Touring Car Championship and the over 1600cc class in the ETCC in 1968 and 1969, as well as the Nurburgring 1000kms in 1976.
