Driver with Minardi in Formula 1, he stayed with them after his F1 spell finished, driving the two-seater Minardi cars, first in Europe and then for the team's Champ Car outfit. As of 2017, he again is a driver for the now official F1 two-seater project. After a brief A1 GP appearance, he had a time back to full-time racing in ALMS. Patrick appeared to have finished full-time racing, bar the odd exhibition race in his homeland, but in 2015, returned to competitive racing and the NASCAR Whelen Euro series. In 2016, Patrick returned to historic racing. Patrick, however, mainly works for Porsche as a racing instructor and works as an instructor at the Red Bull Ring. Before he took up karting, Patrick competed in motorcycles.
