Son of the late Manfred, Markus was the Spyker test-driver when he got an one-off chance with the team. His first (and thus far only) Grand Prix, at the European Grand Prix at the Nurburgring was a sensation - as he led the early part of the race for 6 laps, and at one stage had a 33 second lead! Now in the a variety of endurance series, after spells in the DTM (for a few years), and the FIA GT1 World Championship series (becoming champion in 2012). Markus enjoyed more success at the Nurburgring in 2017, winning the 24 Hour Race there.
