Called up for a surprise, but deserved F1 debut in 2014 with the Caterham team. Had been based in Japan for a while, but has recently been in Europe again. In 2016, he was in the World Endurance Championship again, with some Super Formula races as well. He returned to both in 2017. In 2022 continued in endurance but also raced in Formula E, which meant him dropping his Japanese commitments after 15 years there. In 2023, he joined Porsche's WEC and IMSA challenge and still remained in Formula E. In 2024, he finally stopped racing in Formula E and concentrated on sportscars only. In Japan, he won the Super GT title in 2006. In Europe, he won the Le Mans 24 Hours Race in 2011 and in 2012, and then for a third time in 2014, which helped lead to the F1 drive, some 12 years after he last tested a F1 car for Jaguar. 2015 continued his success as Andre won the Spa 6 Hours. In 2024, Lotterer won his 2nd World Endurance Championship, 12 years after his first title.
