Of Mauritian background via his maternal family, Pascal has moved up the ranks aided by his links with Mercedes. He impressed in the 2011 ADAC Formel Masters, where he won the title, before becoming Mercedes' test and reserve driver. At the same time, he got a ride with an associate team in the DTM. In 2015, he became the youngest ever title winner of the series which earned him a Formula 1 seat in 2016 with the Manor team. In 2017, he moved to the Sauber team and although he did well, he lost his Formula 1 seat for 2018 and returned to the DTM. In 2019, he moved into Formula E and remains involved in 2025.
