A regular in Formula Super Vee, his career didn't really progress much after Formula 2. Still alive and follows the sport. Royer also raced in Formula 3 in a Chevron B38, before competing in Formula 2. He drove for the Fred Opert Racing Team, in a Chevron B35-Hart and took an impressive sixth place on his debut at Thruxton. Unfortunately a lack of available funds meant a drop down to Formula 3, but he reappeared at Mugello in his own March 762, before joining Fred Opert again for the last race of the season in Donington. No more funds meant no more progression, which based on his points-scoring start to the category, was a shame.
