Killed in the Grand Prix of East Germany motorcycle race. A wonderful motorcyclist, who raced in 50 World Championship events, winning 21 of them. His car prowess was extraordinary, but his bike commitments meant he could never really show his true talent. A small statured man with a quick wit, he will also be remembered as one of the Isle of Man TT's greats. A small man, who stood at just five foot three, Ivy's performances led Jackie Stewart, no less, to remark on Bill's natual ability.
