Still alive, living in Staffordshire. Until 2017, he ran the BMTR tyre company in Birmingham. His dad, Don, raced Jaguars in the 1950's, and Paul followed him in racing until, after a spell in sportscars, he stopped to concentrate on the family business, which he joined in 1982. Since 2017, he has been a commercial manager of a motorsport team in Shropshire. Returned to historic racing a while back, and still does a bit of sportscar driving, as he has competed in the 24 Hour Britcar race at Silverstone and the Mugello 6 Hour race a few times since 2010. Smith was a regular driver of a Porsche 935, but was also often seen racing Tiga cars.
