NASCAR, sprint and midget driver, who raced for some 20 years, from the 1930's onwards. Died after a heart-attack. Hal, which was short for Harold, appeared in a number of AAA events from 1946 until 1950. Three of them were at Indianapolis, with his best finish there being a very impressive sixth place in 1948, in his Kurtis-Offy. His best result, in terms of positioning, however, came in the same year and the same car, when he finished fifth at a race in DuQuoin Speedway. In 1941, he also won a major 100-mile midget race at Oakland, in a Miller.
