Died after complications with diabetes. Best on dirt tracks, he was also competent in stock cars. Fohr was lucky to live after being badly hurt in a hit-and-run car accident when he was eighteen, but despite this - or maybe because of it - Fohr started racing soon afterwards. His best years - at least at a higher level - were in 1948 and 1949, where he won 4 Indycar races, including twice at the Milwaukee dirt oval, but also at Springfield and Trenton.
