Midget driver who raced both pre and post-war. Started as a motorcyclist. Full name was Arthur Douglas. Hartsfeld won the 1928 US National Motorcycle Championship and he carried on until 1933 on two wheels. He then moved to four wheels and midgets. Art was at his peak just after World War Two, taking a number of wins before retiring in the late 1950's, influenced somewhat by a massive crash in 1958, but he remained involved in the sport as a promoter for a while. As well as Toledo, Art was also based in Detroit.
