Died of his injuries after a Trans-Am accident. A motorsport and automobile journalist, Jerry was also 1967 SCCA Trans-Am champion. Jerry was an accomplished jazz trumpeter but always loved racing. He initially started as a mechanic as he didn't have the funds to race but his speed when helping test a car was obvious and he impressed greatly in sports car racing. At this time, he was a journalist; a writer and editor for Sports Car Graphic, a monthly magazine devoted to both racing and road sports cars. Jerry also had a brief spell running a team for which he also drove before his death.
