The GP2 champion in 2016 and Eurocup Formula Renault champion in 2013, Gasly has been a long-term investment by Red Bull for their policy in promoting drivers from lower formulae to Formula 1. Hired by them in 2014, he then embarked on three seasons in GP2, with some highs and lows but also earned a test role for Toro Rosso in Formula 1. In 2017, he also raced in Formula E and the Super Formula series. Gasly was just half-a-point behind the title winner in the latter, whilst then juggling a promotion to Formula 1 towards the end of the 2017 season. He was retained by Toro Rosso for 2018 and then deservedly earned a promotion to Red Bull for 2019 but as so many other Red Bull graduates have found, it was a disaster, finding himself dropped in mid-season back to Toro Rosso. On the plus side, he has kept his seat rather than disappear totally and remained in Formula 1 in 2020. With the team rebranded Alpha Tauri, he took an amazing but well deserved win at the 2020 Italian Grand Prix. In 2023, he moved to the Alpine team.
