Wagenhauser went on to race in touring cars and sportscars after his brief Formula 2 spell, and continued racing well into the late 1990's. Later became a team boss in lower formulae and also was involved in motorsport admin and organisation. A former motorcyclist, Udo worked for Team Schabl Engineering, who were in German endurance racing, in a team managerial role, but is now out of the sport and runs a speedboat service, with Udo often enjoying to ride the speedboats himself. Wagenhauser now lives in Konstanz, Baden-Wurttemberg. Udo also raced in sportscars for a while before F2, appearing in a few key races in 1976 and 1977.
