Did well in Formula 3, but was probably best in sportscars. Later involved with car projects, especially with green and renewable energy projects. Often listed as an Austrian, Henning competed in sportscars for over 15 years, continuing to race competitively until the early 1990's. His 1976 Interserie series performance was the springboard to his first Formula 2 foray. Hagenbauer lived near Munich, being involved in strategy and development with a company called Aqua Tirolia, a hygiene and care product company, but he kept links with the sport until his death, after a short illness, in 2023.
