Largely in sportscars after his F2 spell. Also raced in Formula Junior and in the occasional rally. Of German nobility, his full name is Prinz Wilhelm Werner von Sayn-Wittgenstein. The Sayn-Wittgenstein family is one of the oldest in Germany with many of Werner's descendents holding important roles in the country in the past. Initially starting in the late 1950's, Lindermann was primarily an endurance racer and a regular in the Nurburgring 1000kms race although he did also race in Formula Junior. He gave Formula 2 a whirl and got two points scoring results, albeit more through good fortune than speed. He retired from full-time racing in 1961, but returned in 1965 to compete on an amateur basis. A Porsche regular, he also raced an Elva.
