Sportscar driver and team owner, who also worked as a car preparer. Now retired after a long spell in the sport. Gebhardt started in Formula Super Vee and was a multiple race winner in the European series, coming second in the 1979 series, finishing just two points behind the champion, John Nielsen, having taken four wins. He then came third in the VW Castrol Europa Pokal in 1980 and proved competitive in German Formula 3, but the step on to Formula 2, with his own March 812 BMW didn't go as planned. Thereafter, Gunther raced in sportscars and built a number of his own cars, carrying on in the Interserie series in 1994.
