Killed in a plane accident in Spain when he crashed flying his ultralight aircraft (Emilio didn't die in a traffic accident as often cited). Mainly in touring cars and sportscars, but not with a lot of success. He had more enjoyment in rallying in his native country. His last race in single-seaters was in European Formula 3 in 1984, and he then followed that up with a final European Touring Car Championship race in 1985 at Estoril. During his career, which started in the late 1960's, initially in rallying, he also raced in the Formula Seat Championship.
