A likeable, positive man who often performed miracles in underfunded cars, Roberto enjoyed a shock return to F1 and then moved to CART, where he enjoyed an Indian summer in 2000 and 2001, and managed to extend his career in the series until 2008. Also raced in endurance events and GT's in Brazil, but now works as a driver coach and consultant, and although this takes up a lot of his time, he isn't officially retired yet, as he appears in historic events. Away from the sport, he enjoys tinkering with building his own light aeroplane and also his boat, which is a motorised dinghy. Moreno also owns seven motorbikes, two cars and a jetski, all of which also vie for his attention along with his grandkids. The boat was a prize for winning the Formula 3000 Championship and his grandchildren now enjoy sailing in it. Roberto now lives in Miami, Florida. He continues to be involved in the sport via both historic events and as a coach to young drivers. In 2021, to celebrate 50 years of the Formula Ford Festival, Moreno even raced in the 2021 edition, 41 years after he won the event! Roberto did an extensive interview in 2015 with this website, which can be found at the below link.
