After losing his regular drive in GP racing, Ricardo was a Formula 1 test and reserve driver, and so appeared a few times for Toyota as a super sub. Later continued that role with Renault, but started to drive away from F1, in Brazillian touring cars. In 2008, he moved into Grand-Am, whilst also racing in his homeland's touring cars again. In 2025, he still remains in touring cars.
