Also listed as a racing driver from Macau. After Formula 3000, Andre raced in Japan, then in Formula Nissan and then in the European Touring Car Championship. For a while he was based both in Japan and Europe - Andre was in the Blancpain sportscar series in 2014, but then went back in Super GT. In 2018, Andre raced in the Super Taikyu sportscar series before moving back to Super GT in 2019. Couto's career really took off through the annual Macau Formula 3 race, which he won in 2000, but he also did very well in Italian Formula 3, winning four races. Couto does still tend to appear at Macau in the annual touring car race there. Due to the coronavirus pandemic and stricter restrictions in South-East Asia, Couto was restricted to largely racing only in Macau and China for some while, running a limited Porsche Carrera Cup or GT programme, including racing in TCR China in 2023. However now restrictions have been lifted, he is racing further afield, competing in Asian GT events.
