Very capable driver, German Formula 3 Champion in 1992, whose F1 career was affected by a massive accident at Silverstone when testing in 1994, in which he was lucky to survive. Won the Nurburgring 1000km in 2001 and has raced in a variety of series since Formula 1, but has settled in endurance racing and was still there in 2020, in the World Endurance Championship and the Sportscar Series in the USA but that ended up being his last season in the sport. Lamy was awarded a civil honour - an OIH - an Officer of Ordem do Infante Dom Henrique by his home country - an honour that is akin to a British OBE. Lamy also won the FIA GT series in 2007. He now spends his time surfing, dabbles in real estate and is a consultant to the FIA.
