After a spell back in Brazil, he was in the IRL in 2006, but has once again returned to his homeland. He was in stockcars, but is now in truck racing, where he won the Formula Truck championship in 2007, 2009 and 2011. Until 2016, Giaffone competed in that series, but in 2017, he helped set up a new, rival series, Copa Truck. Felipe is more involved with organisation nowadays. Now also is the owner of a chassis building company, which includes Brazillian stockcars as their customers. Also works as a commentator and in 2019, took this up full-time, ending his racing career. Felipe's father Zeca was 1987 national stock car champion but it was in single seaters that Felipe aspired to race and he won an IRL race at Kentucky in 2002, the highlight of that particular discipline for Felipe.
