Tony is the former president and CEO of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and Hulman & Company, serving for twenty years from 1989 to 2009. George is the grandson of Tony Hulman. George's greatest legacy to the sport was founding the IRL; the Indy Racing League. He remains a controversial figure as arguably single-seater racing in the US never recovered from the split of CART and the IRL and NASCAR enjoyed more popularity. George had never really planned on a long racing career as he was due to be in charge of the Speedway at one point; however he had to stop in 1989 when Joe Cloutier died and he had to take over. George also brought Formula 1 racing to the speedway for some years. George remains involved in the racing and business worlds.
