Brother of Jerry and Tom. Continued racing, for some years, in midget cars. Now lives in Mesa, Arizona, where he repairs and restores midgets, as well as being involved in the junior racing scene in the state. Jan is the youngest of the three racing brothers who made it to either Indianapolis or CART but another brother, Blaine, also raced. Jan followed his siblings into the sport, initially in sprint car racing. Like brother Tom, Jan's actual real-life work was as a teacher. He also worked as a sports coach and was based outside Spokane, in Rosalia.
