Still alive, and living in Huntington Beach, California. Mainly in sprint and midget cars in his career, predominantly in California. Until his retirement in the summer of 2018, Jeff worked as a fabricator, specialising in muffler production. He still keeps some links with the sport. Heywood raced for many years, starting his racing in the mid 1970's, becoming a midget driver initially, often in the USAC affiliated series, racing against the likes of Roger Mears. His attempt at CART wasn't as successful as his midget career, with one particular highlight being when he won the 1982 USAC BCRA Western States Midget Championship.
