Enthusiastic driver who was badly injured in an attempt to make the Indianapolis 500, crashing during his rookie test and ended up being critically injured, eventually, but slowly, making a full recovery. Barclay initially excelled in another sport; American Football, where he played as a lineman for University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA). Barclay then worked in real estate, becoming a land developer, before taking up racing in 1985 with the funds to support his passion. Barclay then moved back into the land development world after he stopped racing. Still lives in California.
