Well known British racer in the Brooklands days, who raced for Fiat in 1914 at the French Grand Prix amongst other races, and then raced on until the mid 1920's. Scales also raced - and won - for Talbot at Montlhery, was a reserve driver for the Sunbeam team and also was in charge of testing and development for Talbot Danacq. Later set up a garage and engineering company in London, and also did some subcontracting during the war. The Scales family was originally from Norfolk and Jack started his business life walking horses from Norfolk to London and vice-versa. Jack died of a coronary thrombosis.
