Primarily a racing car designer, for Hispano-Suiza and Peugeot, Zuccarelli, also known as Paul, was killed when he was testing on open road in Normandy for the French Grand Prix. A horse and cart emerged in front of Zuccarelli and the Italian had no chance at all to avoid the accident. Originally Zuccarelli served in the Italian Navy before moving to Spain, basing himself in Barcelona to drive for the Hispano-Suiza team. He won the 1910 Voiturette Cup at Boulogne and notably the 1912 GP de France. He then became integral to Peugeot's design and racing programme until his death.
