Italian born, but English based for much of his life and career, having moved to England aged two years old. Became the first European to win a major US championship. Started racing and winning in 1907, and in 1912 became Sunbeam's official driver which led to continued success. During World War 1 he moved to America, where he continued his success. Killed in a speed record attempt. Resta also had a car dealership in London before he took up racing, which he did when one of his clients suggested Dario drove in the very first meeting at the brand new Brooklands Circuit. He finished third and this set off a successful career which as wwell as the above, he won the American Grand Prix of 1915 and two Vanderbilt Cup victories.
