Son of a Polish Count, Elliot, who lived in America but who died in a racing crash in 1903, Louis was an orphan at sixteen years of age. This combined to make him both a wealthy man and an eccentric fellow, who is best known now for his aero-engined cars - the 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bangs', immortalised, of course in both Ian Fleming's book and then the 1968 film. Zborowski was also a benefactor and racer for Aston Martin and he also had an extensive classic car collection, which included a Mercedes GP racer from 1914. He was killed when he hit a tree during the Italian Grand Prix.
