Of Belgian parentage, he also lived in the US, but he later became a French citizen. Avation pioneer who raced from 1902 onwards and broke many speed records and raced Worldwide, taking a notable win in a race at Ardennes in 1906. Fought in World War 1 for the French Army, which escalated his love of planes. Duray had long been a aviation fan and in 1902 was the third person to be granted an aviation licence in Belgium. Raced on until 1933 in a number of sportscar and touring car races, and then stayed linked with the avation world for some years after that.
